American bakeries range from wholesale operations that supply restaurants to neighborhood shops that sell bread, pastries, cookies and cakes over the counter, and many of them also pour coffee. Bagel shops boil and bake on site and sell out of favorite flavors by late morning; donut shops open before dawn and are often family-run; patisseries and cake studios take custom orders for weddings and birthdays and usually need one to two weeks' notice. Ice cream parlors, gelato shops and frozen yogurt bars are seasonal in the northern states and year-round in the South and on the West Coast. Prices are posted per item, by the dozen or by the pound, and most shops now take cards and mobile payment.

Asheville is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Asheville follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I stopped by Insomnia Cookies while visiting Asheville, and overall I had a good experience! ๐ช The cookie was really good, warm, fresh, and definitely satisfied my sweet tooth. There were several options to choose from, so it was hard to pick just one! The only downside for me was the parking. Since itโs located downtown, finding a place to park was a little difficult and took some patience. Other than the parking situation, I really enjoyed the cookie and would definitely come back when Iโm craving something sweet. If youโre already downtown Asheville, itโs definitely worth stopping by for a treat! ๐ช๐

The cookies were sooo good. Melt in the mouth and kind of warm.

I want to begin by saying that these cookies are absolutely delicious however the service was horrible. This was my first visit to Ashville and to Insomnia cookie and the person working today was unfriendly and unwelcoming even going as far as sighing while taking my order. My family encouraged me to leave however I am aware that everyone is entitled to having a bad day but that negativity should not be brought into work or effect your customer service.

Insomnia Cookies, Downtown God is dead, Nietzsche said, but he never made it to Asheville at midnight with bad decisions behind him and a cookie in his hand. The warm ones. Medium sized. Correct. Arriving in a box like the universe briefly remembered you exist and felt bad about it. This is Insomnia Cookies in downtown and it is open late because suffering has no curfew but neither, thank christ, does cookies. I must note the ice cream is purple because the brand is purple because they are open late and someone in marketing made a decision. It is a fine decision. It is just a decision a person made. Though grotesquely purple I assure you ice cream still tastes like ice cream. And then there is Missa. The manager. Helpful in a way that should be ordinary but in this century lands like a small miracle. She knew things. She told you the things. No dead smile, no thousand-yard stare of the service industry broken. just a person, present, giving a damn in real time. Rare. Possibly endangered. Five stars. Go. Weโre all dying. Eat the cookie.โโโโโโโโโโโโโโโโ

More traditional than Crumble in terms of selection, but not in a bad way: these are the chewy, chocolate-oozing, lip-smacking, straight-from-the-oven cookies you dream about, or at least I dream about, when I'm in need of a sugar fix. Service was excellent today - friendly and helpful. The shop itself is a warm, welcoming place and is filled with wonderful aromas wafting from the bakery. Insomnia is aptly named - hours extend to 1:00 am Sunday-Wednesday and to 3:00 am Thursday-Saturday. I might just sneak back later tonight... Sorry about the capital letters, Google Maps isnโt letting me correct the name, which is: โinsomnia cookiesโ
